Trap Spelling Bee App

This Privacy Policy describes how Trap Spelling Bee Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Trap Spelling Bee mobile application (the "App"), visit our website at trapspellingbee.com, or otherwise interact with us. By using the App or the website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

We built the Trap Spelling Bee App to be a fun, culture-forward card game experience. This policy is meant to be straightforward and direct, not buried in legalese. If anything is unclear, contact us at info@trapspellingbee.com.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically through the App, and information from third-party services we integrate with.

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: If you create an account, we collect your name, email address, password (encrypted), and any optional profile details you choose to share.

  • Purchase information: When you buy a game or subscribe to TSB ALL ACCESS, our payment processors (Apple, Google, or Stripe) collect your payment details. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. We do receive purchase confirmations including the product purchased, transaction ID, date, and amount.

  • Communications: If you email us or message us through social media, we keep a record of that correspondence to respond and improve our service.

  • User-generated content: Player names, team names, and scores you enter while playing games are stored locally on your device and synced as needed across the app's scoreboard system.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: When you use the App, we automatically collect device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, language preference, and time zone.

  • Usage data: We collect data about how you interact with the App, including which games you play, how often, in-game choices, session length, features used, and game completion data.

  • Crash and performance data: We collect error reports and performance metrics to fix bugs and improve stability.

  • Network information: We collect general IP address information (used for analytics and fraud prevention, not to track you personally).

Information From Third Parties

We work with third-party services that may provide us with information:

  • Payment processors: Apple App Store, Google Play, and Stripe provide us with transaction confirmations and subscription status.

  • Analytics providers: Services like Google Analytics, Meta (Facebook), and TikTok help us understand how people discover and use the App. These services use cookies, pixels, and device IDs.

  • Social media platforms: If you connect a social account or interact with us on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms, those platforms may share information with us per their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features.

  • To process purchases, manage subscriptions, and deliver content you've paid for.

  • To send you transactional messages such as receipts, subscription confirmations, password resets, and updates about your account.

  • To send you marketing communications, including promotional emails and push notifications, where you have opted in. You can opt out at any time.

  • To personalize your experience, such as remembering your preferences and recommending games you might enjoy.

  • To monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities so we can build a better App.

  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, abuse, and other illegal activities.

  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. Push Notifications and Marketing Emails

If you opt in, we may send you push notifications about new games, app updates, promotional offers, and Trap Spelling Bee news. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.

If you've opted in to marketing emails (including through our email list of over 14,000 subscribers), we may send you product announcements, promotions, and brand updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email info@trapspellingbee.com to opt out. Even if you unsubscribe from marketing emails, we may still send you transactional emails (like purchase receipts).

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these situations:

  • With service providers: We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the App and our business (hosting providers, analytics services, payment processors, customer support tools, email service providers). These vendors are contractually required to protect your information.

  • With Apple, Google, and Stripe: Purchase data is processed by these payment platforms per their own privacy policies.

  • For legal reasons: We may share information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request, or to protect our legal rights, safety, or property.

  • With business transfers: If we're involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We'll notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

  • With your consent: We may share information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

5. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

The App offers paid content including individual games ($4.99 each) and the TSB ALL ACCESS subscription. All purchases inside the iOS App are processed through Apple In-App Purchase; all purchases inside the Android App are processed through Google Play Billing.

Apple and Google handle billing, refunds, and subscription management for in-app purchases. We do not have direct access to your payment card details. For refund requests, contact Apple or Google directly through their respective support channels.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can manage and cancel subscriptions at any time through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

6. Children's Privacy

The Trap Spelling Bee App is designed for adults aged 17 and older. Several of our games involve mature themes, drinking culture, adult humor, and content not suitable for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we've inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, contact us at info@trapspellingbee.com and we'll delete it promptly.

If you're a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with information without your consent, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information:

For All Users

  • Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

  • Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.

  • Opt-out: You can opt out of marketing emails and disable push notifications at any time.

For California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it.

  • Right to request deletion of personal information.

  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.

  • Right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

For European Users (GDPR)

If you're located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Right of access to your personal data.

  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data.

  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten").

  • Right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Account information is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you reactivate. Purchase records are kept for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. Analytics data is typically aggregated and anonymized after 26 months.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access. This includes encryption of sensitive data in transit, secure servers, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

We're based in the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this transfer. For users in the European Economic Area, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) when transferring personal data outside the EEA.

11. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services that we don't operate. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not ours. We're not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites or services.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, by sending you an email or showing an in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
